ZDTV, the 24-hour Ziff-Davis cable and satellite network
devoted to computer products, news and technology, recently
presented a one-week promotional lottery, in which it gave
away a computer-mounted Netcam every hour to someone who
registered on its Web site. ZDTV got 40,000 registrants, a
large number for such a little-seen network.
ZDTV is available via satellite, and by tapping into zd.com
on the Web.
If you're still lusting after one of those tiny droidlike
cameras, which enable you to send personal V-mails as well
as be seen and heard on ZDTV, the channel still has more
than a year left in its pledge to give away one per day.
Meanwhile, there are the shows on the network itself, which
have a refreshing amount of anti-dweeb attitude _ like a
computer-obsessed version of ESPN. And
Victoria Recano, just
to name one savvy and polished anchor, is a lot more
professional than you'd expect from such a narrowcast
startup operation.
