ZDTV Captures Top Honors for
Television in Computer Press Association Awards
SAN FRANCISCO, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Computer Press
Association, comprised of editors, writers and producers who
cover technology, named "ZDTV News" its Best Overall Video
Show in CPA's 2000 Awards presentation. The network's "Fresh
Gear," which explores all the newest personal technology
products on the market, was one of only two other finalists
in the category.
The judges called ZDTV News, "a serious breaking-news
approach to covering computers and technology. Timely news
combined with analysis and discussion provides a complete
daily report that's both fresh and in-depth."
The accomplishment is noteworthy as ZDTV was just two years
old on May 11 and the award was for news coverage in the
network's first full year, 1999. The ZDTV News' producer who
was recognized by the judges is Harry Fuller, news director.
"Fresh Gear" is aired under the direction of Lori Bodenhamer
and Jim Louderback.
"It is gratifying to know that the leaders in technology
news coverage find our efforts to be the best -- whether
that is breaking news, event coverage, in-depth interviews,
investigative reporting or product reviews," said Fuller.
"The CPA judges clearly feel we achieve our aim by keeping
the audience on top of the matters critical to them. Our
goal is to be the consumer's best source on TV technology
news."
ZDTV News coverage airs Monday through Friday at 4, 8 and 11
p.m. Eastern time. Segments are also carried on ZDTV.com,
the network's online component. Using the latest in audio
technology and streaming video, reports developed by the
ZDTV News staff are available to the online community
throughout the day. ZDTV News also has a substantial daily
following among cyber enthusiasts. Arbitron ranks ZDTV Radio
as the nation's most listened-to Internet audio service
provider in the non-music format.
"This kind of recognition reinforces to our advertisers that
we are the acknowledged leader in our industry," noted
George Ehinger, Vice President of Advertising Sales. "We
have the respect of our peers and of our audience."
The CPA honors were the second accolades in just two months
for the network. ZDTV recently won five Emmys at the 29th
Annual Northern California Emmy Awards. In that judging, the
network tied with long-time local broadcaster KPIX in
receiving the second largest number of total awards for a
channel from among 649 entries.
